NUTRITION HOTLINE: Factors for Healthy Exercise
Q: How can I figure out how much exercise is OK for me?
A: When determining healthy exercise, there are several factors to consider. First of all, you want to get approval from your physician and other members on your treatment team to ensure you are medically stable and healthy enough to begin an exercise program. Second, moderate exercise is generally defined as exercising one hour or less per day at a moderate pace. Finally, you should examine your reasons for exercising. If you are exercising only to burn calories or to lose weight, your exercise may be a component of your eating disorder. Healthy exercise is done to improve cardiovascular fitness, decrease stress, and to have fun!
